July 2023 Homeward Bound Newsletter

Have you ever stopped to ponder the meaning of freedom? As we gear up for July 4th, our annual celebration of independence and liberty, it's the perfect time to do just that.

To me, freedom is about choice. It's like picking out a favorite craft beer or wearing a funky shirt because it reflects your unique style. It's about expressing your opinions without fear of judgment. Essentially, freedom is the space to be authentically you.

Yet, freedom isn't a free-for-all. It's like music: sure, you can crank up the volume on your favorite song, but if it disturbs the neighbors, you've crossed a line. Our choices, no matter how freely made, must respect the well-being of others.

It's like playing a friendly game: I ask myself, do the things I want to get in the way of what other people need? How can I stay true to myself and respect their freedom if they do?

We can all express ourselves freely as long as we respect each other's boundaries.

Now, let's bring it home. Literally. You see, homeownership is a vital form of freedom. It's not just about building wealth, although that's important. Homeownership represents the freedom to create a space that is purely 'you.' Dream of a purple bedroom? Go for it. How about that garden you've always wanted? Plant away!

"Freedom lies in being bold." — Robert Frost.

As we celebrate Independence Day, many of us will contemplate our next steps in homeownership. You may be an empty nester, thinking about downsizing to a cozier space now that the kids have flown the coop. Or you're considering moving to a larger home to accommodate a growing family. Each decision represents a choice, a chance to shape your life in the way that feels right to you.

Remember these words from Albert Camus: "Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better." So whether you're scaling up, sizing down, or staying put, remember that each choice is a chance to improve and live authentically.

So, as you celebrate July 4th this year, I invite you to reflect on what freedom means to you. How do you define it? How does it shape your choices, from the beer you drink to the clothes you wear, the house you live in, and the life you lead?

Like the open road, freedom allows us to chart our course. But it also demands that we drive responsibly, mindful of others on the journey. Enjoy your Independence Day, and may you always find freedom in the choices you make.

We are ready to help you or someone you know, find the best available rates, to purchase or refinance a home. Our mission is Building Wealth and Leaving Legacies through Homeownership.
